Gymnastics Worlds | The United States crowned by team, 20th world title for Simone Biles

(Antwerp) American gymnasts were crowned team world champions on Wednesday in Antwerp, allowing Simone Biles, back after two years of absence, to win the twentieth world title of her career.

They thus extend the reign of the United States over the women’s team competition which has lasted since 2011. With 167,729 points, they are ahead of the Brazilians (165,530 pts) and the French (164,064).

This team victory gives Simone Bile her 26the world medal and its 20e title, new record.

The American is making her return to the international level in Antwerp, two years after the grueling Tokyo Olympics. Arriving in Japan with the status of big favorite after her four titles won five years earlier in Rio, Biles had collapsed, withdrawing from most of the events because of “twisties”, sudden losses of any reference in space.
