Gunshots in Hochelaga | Two suspects arrested

Two men suspected of having fired in the direction of a triplex in the Hochelaga sector of Montreal were arrested by the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) three days after the event.

The two men aged 18 and 45 allegedly shot three times at a residential building last Saturday. They were arrested Tuesday evening while they were in Montreal and Laval respectively, the SPVM said in a press release.

The alleged shooters are said to have targeted a triplex located on a residential street in Hochelaga from a vehicle. “Fortunately, none of the people who were inside at the time were hit by the projectiles,” the police force said.

Clues collected during the analysis of the crime scene and during the investigative process quickly put the police on the trail of the suspects.

Various pieces of evidence were seized during searches subsequently carried out in Montreal and Saint-Basile-le-Grand, where one of the suspects lives. A vehicle was also recovered for examination.

“The rapid arrest of the suspects is the result of the coordinated efforts of the various teams of the Eastern Project Investigation Section, which treated this case as a priority. The police officers from the ARRET project, specialized in the fight against armed violence, also provided significant support to this operation,” adds the SPVM.

The authorities remind that anyone with additional information related to this event can contact 911. It is also possible to communicate anonymously and confidentially with Info-Crime Montréal at 514 393-1133.
