gunman kills several people in Rotterdam

An armed man in combat gear opened fire on Thursday, September 28, in an apartment in Rotterdam before bursting into a nearby medical center. Several people were killed, according to Dutch police. “We inform the family and relatives first. We will provide more explanations later”we can read on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

A 32-year-old man was arrested under the helipad of the Erasmus medical center in the center of the Netherlands’ second largest city. “We believe he acted alone”, specifies the Dutch police. The motive for the attack remains unknown, local news agency ANP reported, also citing police.

Footage at the scene showed people leaving the hospital, including doctors, as police from elite units in bulletproof vests entered. Fires also broke out in both places but were able to be extinguished.
