Gunfire in downtown Montreal

Shots rang out in the early hours of Friday morning in downtown Montreal, shattering the windows of the facade of a business on Crescent Street.


The event did not cause any injuries, said officer Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The shots were fired around 5:25 a.m. on Crescent Street, not far from René-Lévesque Boulevard. The police located several casings on the ground and bullet holes on the window of a business.

A perimeter is currently erected to allow investigators to analyze the scene. Crescent Street is closed southbound from Sainte-Catherine Street.
