It was a request from the Official Opposition to City Hall, tabled during the City Council, which was however rejected by the administration of Projet Montréal.
“We are experiencing a public security crisis in Montreal,” said Opposition Leader Aref Salem. “Citizens call us to tell us that they are afraid for their families. We are not saying that the funds are not being spent in the right place, but we want to know the truth. If the administration has nothing to hide, let us give this mandate to the Auditor General to get the facts straight. »
The president of the executive committee, Dominique Ollivier, stung, replied that the management of public finances by the administration is “irreproachable”. “The insinuations on which it is based are serious, unacceptable, and false. We have absolutely nothing to hide. Our books are open,” she hammered.
