The Cerasuolo di Vittoria vineyard, the only DOCG in Sicily, is in the southeast of the island. The Gulfi vines, cultivated with great care, are in the mountainous part of the appellation, at an altitude of 450 m in the limestone hills of the Hyblaean mountains.
A blend of equal parts nero d’Avola and frappato, the 2020 Cerasuolo opens with a dark nose, reminiscent of black earth.
Aromas of ripe red fruits appear in the background. The mouth, rich and fleshy, charms with its great freshness.
The aromas develop on notes of red and black fruits, garrigue, licorice and sun-heated earth, and the wine stretches on a long finish with fine-grained tannins.
To be enjoyed with: braised octopus in tomato sauce, puttanesca pasta, lamb chops with herbs.
