The guitar used by John Lennon on the album “Help!” (1965) was sold on Wednesday, May 29, for $2.9 million at an auction by the American house Julien’s, the establishment announced in a press release.

The instrument, a 12-string Framus Hootenanny acoustic guitar, was “recently found in an attic after being presumed lost for over 50 years, and was seen and heard during the recording of The Beatles album and film “Help!” and many of The Beatles’ biggest hits in the 1960s”, recalls Julien’s.

The guitar was acquired through a telephone auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. It is the most expensive Beatles guitar ever sold at auction.
