In Guinea, the cohabitation between chimpanzees and humans is increasingly complicated. Animals are more aggressive as crop fields encroach on their territory.

In Guinea, their cry echoes hundreds of meters away. In a region in the center of the country, chimpanzees number nearly 60,000. From now on, they venture further and further, to the gates of the villages. Over the years, cohabitation with the inhabitants has become more and more complicated and sometimes the monkeys attack.

To Longory (Guinea)a four-year-old girl do some of the latest victims. She was attacked while playing in a field. The beast took her before finally releasing her, after biting and scratching her face. “I don’t know exactly where the chimpanzee came from, but I chased him to get my daughter back”testifies Fatoumata Diarramother of the little girl. Faced with this traumatic episode, the council of the inhabitants of Longory got together. Until further notice, he has decided to no longer let children go out unsupervised. If chimpanzees attack, it is because their living space is reduced, conquered by human cultures.
