Christian Jacob cleaned up the bodies of the LR group. The President of the Republicans took advantage of the strategic committee of Tuesday, December 7, which brings together the leadership of the party, to announce that he is dismissing Guillaume Peltier and Gaël Perdriau from their functions as vice-presidents, the entourage of President LR told France Televisions.
The day after the election of Valérie Pécresse, Guillaume Peltier, deputy and departmental councilor of Loir-et-Cher, had tweeted : “How to remain insensitive to Eric Zemmour’s speech for France?”, triggering an outcry in his party.
“Your word does not commit our political family The Republicans. Eric Zemmour’s speech is far removed from our values. The LR activists have chosen without appeal: Valérie Pécresse is our candidate and we will make her win”, another LR vice-president, Agnès Evren, cropped it in a tweet on Monday.
As for Gaël Perdriau, LR mayor of Saint-Etienne, he had announced before the second round of the congress, that he would not vote for Valérie Pécresse nor Éric Ciotti, estimating in Progress than “The agreement displayed by the two finalists hides, in reality, an ideological drift which diverts us from the republican values which constitute the Gaullist, liberal and humanist heritage of our party.”
