Guillaume Néry, a life in apnea

Athlete, artist, dancer of the abyss, French freediving champion, Guillaume Néry beat the freediving world record in constant weight (descent and ascent with the sole force of the flippers or without).

In 2011, he was crowned world champion thanks to a descent to -117 meters. On September 8, 2015, he set a new French record descending to -126 meters. Two days later, victim of a diving accident, he is close to death and decides to stop the competition.

What do you think of when you are snorkeling at a depth of 126m? What do the seas and oceans teach us? What life lesson did he learn from the accident that nearly cost him his life? And what did confinement teach him? And by the way, anyone can go freediving? Can it be learned? And if yes, how ?

Guillaume Néry is the guest of Planète Bleu. After his diving accident which almost cost him his life, his quest now goes far beyond the records. The ocean is his paradise but also the heart of its commitment to the preservation of nature. He tells everything in the book “Natureaquatique” published by Arthaud.
