The story

For the holidays, Vanille is invited to Guadeloupe, her mother’s island of origin. The idea does not delight her at all because Vanille prefers winter sports… But a whimsical aunt, a new magical friend and a magic flower will quickly make her forget her ski cap and her sulky face.

Guillaume Lorin – Author and Director

Born in Guadeloupe in 1985, Guillaume Lorin grew up surrounded by nature and local folklore. After high school, he studied animation in Paris and Luxembourg, then worked for various studios. He resumed his studies at the Poudrière school (Bourg-les-Valence) where he developed his talents as a director and his imagination. There followed several experiences at Folimage and Cartoon Saloon, before moving on to directing his first short film, “Vanille”, a modern tale in the colors of his native island.

Each character is a summary of people that I know and above all that I love! The young Vanille, it’s a little me, a little my sister, my mother, a little Aurore Auguste who signed the majority of the dialogues. We wanted this heroine to be a little girl with character who knows what she wants, a bit like the women and girls I grew up with.
