Guide to National Day Celebrations

Montreal

See you on June 24 at 8 p.m. at Maisonneuve Park for the big show hosted by Pierre-Yves Lord. On the menu: performances by FouKi, Garou, Isabelle Boulay, Lydia Képinski, Marjo, P’tit Béliveau and many others. Qualité motel will get the most motivated partygoers dancing starting at 10:30 p.m. The event will be broadcast on ICI Radio-Canada Télé and TVA, as well as on the radio on CKOI and Rythme FM. It is also the return of the traditional National Day parade, which will leave from boulevard Saint-Joseph Est, at the corner of rue Molson, at 1:30 p.m.

Neighborhood parties will also be organized in several Montreal boroughs. Annie Villeneuve will perform at Aimé-Léonard Park in Montreal North on June 23 at 8:30 p.m. Émile Bilodeau will sing at Parc des Rapides de LaSalle on June 24 at 8:45 p.m. at 9 p.m. at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Park in Pointe-aux-Trembles. A plethora of activities for the whole family – think inflatable games, face-painting workshops, BBQs, etc. – will be organized notably in Outremont, Anjou, Lachine and L’Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève.

An “Alternative and Committed National Day” will take place on June 24 at 4 p.m. at Laurier Park with artists LaF, Lysandre, Jam Khalil, the group Oui Merci, Banista and Charlotte Brousseau.

Quebec

On June 23, in the nation’s capital, the Vulgaires Machins will warm up the crowd on the Plains of Abraham at 7 p.m. before giving way to an impressive line-up of guests: Émile Bilodeau, Louis-Jean Cormier, Patrick Norman, Laurence Jalbert , Pierre Kwenders, Marilyne Léonard and many others. The main show will be broadcast on Télé-Québec and on Rouge FM and iHeartRadio at 9:30 p.m.

Laval

The big show at the Center de la nature will bring together Ariane Roy, Bon Enfant, Claudia Bouvette, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Martha Wainwright, Michel Rivard and Pierre Kwenders, among others. The flamboyant Rita Baga will be in charge of the entertainment from 8:30 p.m. on June 24.

North Shore

Residents of the North Shore will not be left out. In Vieux-Terrebonne, Dumas will hit the boards at 7 p.m. on June 23 and the Cowboys Fringants will take over at 9 p.m. The same evening in Saint-Jérôme, Marc Hervieux, Paul Daraîche and Luc De Larochellière are among the many guests of Christian Marc Gendron at Jacques-Locas Park at 8:30 p.m. Patrice Michaud will be the headliner in Repentigny on June 24, at 9 p.m., at Île Lebel Park.

Longueuil

You don’t get bored in the suburbs. At least that’s what the City of Longueuil seems to want to prove, as it is organizing two days of festivities packed with several shows and family activities. On June 23, on rue Saint-Charles in Vieux-Longueuil, Sarahmée will open the ball at 8:15 p.m., followed by Clay and Friends at 9:30 p.m. On June 24, the party will move to Parc de la Cité in the Borough of Saint-Hubert to welcome Roxane Bruneau on stage at 8:30 p.m.

South Shore

On June 23, the City of Boucherville promises major hits in Quebec music with the Arsenal group on the Place de l’Eglise Sainte-Famille at 8:30 p.m. On the same day, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, the Campivallensiens will host Jonas, Kim Richardson and Marie-Pierre Leduc at Parc Delpha-Sauvé starting at 8 p.m. The festivities will continue the next day, same time, with Sara Dufour and Mario Turbide. In Saint-Constant, the Bleu Jeans Bleu quartet will get Quebecers moving at the Base de plein air on the evening of June 24.

Gatineau

Paul Piché, Ariane Roy and Sofia Duhaime will be at the helm of the National Day show on June 23 on Laval Street in Old Hull. The Outaouais en fête festival takes place from June 22 to 25 in the Aylmer sector. Not to be missed: Lydia Képinski, FouKi and Marc Dupré on June 23, Louis-Jean Cormier and Robert Charlebois on June 24 and Les Trois Accords on June 25.

Elsewhere in Quebec

On June 23, Vincent Vallières will be in Victoriaville, Hubert Lenoir in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Kaïn in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, JAB in Rimouski and Corneille in Alma.

In downtown Sherbrooke, on June 24, the electro-pop group Super Plage will perform at 8:15 p.m., followed by Les Trois Accords at 9:30 p.m. Luc de Larochellière will be at the helm of the festivities in Trois-Rivières from 7:00 p.m. at Parc des Chenaux. The Cowboys Fringants will be performing in Granby and Daniel Boucher will be partying in Petite-Vallée.
