Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk 2077: When and how to confront him?
As you embark on V’s journey or while delving into Johnny Silverhand’s tales, you’ll soon learn about Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk 2077. This formidable character, reminiscent of a metal giant, makes his first appearance during the heist at Konpeki Tower, early in the game. However, he won’t be back on your radar for a while, although Johnny and Rogue will provide valuable insights about him. He ultimately serves as the final boss in the main storyline. To engage him, you must initiate the quest Nocturne OP55N1, marking a pivotal point of no return.
No matter the choices you make with Johnny at the start of this quest (excluding the suicide option), subsequent missions will inevitably lead you to the showdown with Adam Smasher right before you reach Mikoshi. Therefore, just initiate the quest and progress until you are prepared to face him. Be warned, the battle is quite challenging, so it’s advisable to level up adequately before the encounter. If you’re struggling with the game, you might not be ready yet. Regardless, consider utilizing one of our recommended builds to enhance your chances of success.
Strategies to defeat Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk 2077
As you approach Mikoshi at the climax of your quest line, the time to confront Adam Smasher will arrive. Depending on the choices made with Johnny earlier, you’ll have different NPC allies to support you. Regardless of your playstyle—whether you lean towards hacking or another approach—it’s wise to equip powerful ranged weapons. This is crucial since Adam Smasher excels in close-quarters combat. Unless you’ve entirely focused on melee combat, it’s best to alternate your strategy between ranged and melee attacks.
As you assess the environment, you’ll notice server columns scattered throughout the room. Don’t be fooled; these provide little cover as they will quickly detonate from his firepower. Instead, seek refuge behind solid walls. When Smasher leaps to the top of the room, focus on taking out the additional enemies that will arrive. After a few waves, he’ll return to your range.
Importantly, you can disable both of Adam Smasher’s arms by concentrating your fire on them. This tactic is highly recommended to simplify the battle. Once his health drops, he will utilize the rocket launcher mounted on his shoulder. Aim to repeatedly shoot it to destroy it. Additionally, target his head, as it serves as his weak point, and exploit this advantage as much as you can.
After you successfully defeat Adam Smasher, remember to loot his body for the access key. If you chose to ally with Rogue, you’ll also have the opportunity to claim his Iconic Pistol Pride at the end of the fight. Although the access key won’t be usable until the game concludes, you can reload the corresponding save afterward to unlock Adam Smasher’s secret stash on his boat, the Ebunike. Lastly, after the confrontation, you’ll have the option to spare him or eliminate him. This decision will not affect the overall storyline, so choose as you see fit.
