Invited to the set of What an era! This Saturday, November 25, 2023, Karine Le Marchand was invited to read an Instagram post written by her a few months ago. And for good reason, last August, on the occasion of her 55th birthday, the presenter of Love is in the meadow
wrote a strong feminist message to denounce ageism:
“One in two French women is over 50, and yet it seems that aging is still a dirty word for women… Who represents us with dignity? Who tells us that we are beautiful, without the “encore” that goes with it? Who tells us to enjoy our freedom, while our children fly away, rather than telling us about the cruel lack of the empty nest? Who tells us that a vacation without tampons or pads is bad? Who tells us that living alone is not inevitable, but the opportunity to know ourselves better, to repair ourselves, and to explore the world that interests us, without being accountable to someone who does not deserve us? My sisters, I say: growing old is a gift, living is an art. Let’s go life! We don’t give up!!”, she read before being congratulated by an admiring Léa Salamé.
“We are from a generation where our freedom was taken away. I was born in 68. My mother burned her bras. I am on a television set, I am mixed race, I am 55 years old, I produce programs that make sense, […]. I’m waiting for the icing on the cake. Man is not women’s cake, man is the cherry. It’s the life companion who will tell us I’m proud of what you do, I’m not going to crush you and I’m not counting on you to lift me up.”added the leading face of the sixth channel who now has nothing to prove.

“I don’t really care”
Questioned subsequently by Léa Salamé about the “contempt” that she could experience simply because she was a “popular” presenter, Karine Le Marchand also replied that she had nothing to do with it.
“Télérama, France Inter, all that… When we are popular, it is fashionable among certain journalists to despise us, but I don’t really care,”replied the host while her interlocutor hosts the morning show France Inter. Léa Salamé therefore responded: “In any case, I invite you to France Inter with great pleasure.”
