It was a great moment of emotion this May 20, 2023 at the Théâtre des Lumières in Cannes when the interpreter of Indiana Jones came to present the fifth part of his heroic saga entitled THE Dial of destiny. A film whose national release is scheduled for June 28. There, beautiful surprises awaited Harrison Ford under an incredible standing ovation from the public: a tribute clip looking back on his 50 years of career and an honorary Palme d’or awarded by Iris Knobloch, the president of the Festival. “I had tears in my eyes. It will remain an unforgettable moment. The reception of the film exceeded everything I imagined. It was the best place for the screening to go as well as possible (…)” explained the actor at the microphone of RTL. And to continue: “At the bottom of the stairs, you just think of entering a screening room. But at the top, you see this crowd. And then you go in, you get close to the stage, it’s the biggest room where I’ve ever seen a movie. I heard it all so loud, I had to accept feeling it physically. It was totally overwhelming.” A memory that will remain engraved in the memory of the cult comedian of 80 years who also wanted to sound the retirement of his favorite character.

“Our future depends on science and recognizing the truth about what is happening before our eyes…”
Facing Laurent Delahousse this Sunday, May 21, whose set of “8:30 p.m.” is installed in Cannes in this fortnight dedicated to cinema, the actor did not so much wish to return to the highlights of his career as above all to give his opinion on the current policy of our world in terms of ecological emergency. And this “anti-Trumpist” literally wanted to sound the alarm in bloodshed mode! “Are the policies of this planet responding fast enough, in your opinion, to this climate emergency, to this dying biodiversity?”, asks the journalist. And the actor, very excited and concerned by the subject of letting go: “My God no. And it’s something that was created on purpose, by the denigration of science. And it does nothing for our survival. Science is based on facts, not opinion. You have to respect it, it brought us medicines, space, wealth… Let’s listen to science, let’s listen to what the world is telling us. It tells us that it is being abused, that we are destroying nature’s ability to serve us. And it serves us, every day, with clean air, fresh water, with insects that pollinate our plants. Our future depends on science and recognizing the truth about what is happening before our eyes… If we don’t move our ass, and we don’t do it now, we’re going to lose this planet!”.
