Guatemala | The “guardians” of a lake threatened by pollution

(San Pedro La Laguna) Wading through the water and walking along the beach, dozens of women pick up trash that has accumulated on the shores of Guatemala’s picturesque Lake Atitlán, a natural wonder threatened by pollution.

“We got together and decided to clean the water because there is a lot of waste,” says Maria Gonzalez, one of the “guardians of the lake.”
