Météo-France has placed Guadeloupe on orange alert for “heavy rain and storms”, Thursday September 26 in its 9 p.m. bulletin, due to the passage of a tropical wave “which has caused intense and stormy rain since the end of the night”. This level of vigilance had been raised to “red” during the day, before being revised. Martinique is on orange alert for “heavy rain and thunderstorms” due to the same meteorological phenomenon, according to the institute’s bulletin.
In Guadeloupe, “For At the moment, it is the municipalities of South Basse-Terre (Baillif, Basse-Terre, Trois-Rivières, Gourbeyre, Saint-Claude and Vieux-Fort) and the Saintes which have been the most affected.details Météo-France in a bulletin published at 11 a.m. local time (5 p.m. in France).
“Intense and stormy rains continue to sweep the entire archipelago for midday and afternoon this Thursday. The intensity of these showers is remarkable (up to 50 to 80 mm in 1 hour)”warns the forecaster. “The episode will remain very intense until the end of the day.”and will end on Friday “at the end of the day at the earliest”.
