(Guadalaraja) Canada’s Bianca Andreescu was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Jessica Pegula in the round of 16 at the Guadalaraja Open on Thursday.

Third-seeded Pegula had a 4-2 break advantage over Andreescu, 59e in the world.
Each player got four aces and four double faults.
Pegula took a 5-1 lead in the second set en route to a ninth quarterfinal appearance this season.
Her next rival will be Sloane Stephens, who won 7-6(6) and 7-5 ahead of sixth-seeded Caroline Garcia.
Champion at Flushing Meadows in 2017, Stephens is the 50e racket in the world.
Jelena Ostapenko, who dismissed Eugenie Bouchard the day before, was beaten 6-4, 6-4 by Veronika Kudermetova. She got 11 aces and three breaks.
