(Guadalajara) American Jessica Pegula won the Guadalajara Tournament, the first WTA 1000 tournament held in Latin America, on Sunday, beating Greece’s Maria Sakkari in the final 6-2, 6-3 in Zapopan, western Mexico .

Pegula, 5e of the WTA rankings and seeded No. 3, took 1 hour 10 minutes to beat Sakkari, world No. 6 and seeded No. 4.
It was the second meeting between the two players, who are now one win each.
This success at the Guadalajara tournament is the second singles title for the 28-year-old American, after winning the Washington tournament in 2019.
