At the start of the game, the story of indiscipline again came to haunt the Lions. Taking advantage of a double penalty awarded to Mathieu Gagnon, defender Ben Finkelstein was able to outsmart goalkeeper Tristan Bérubé. The Newfoundland representatives were then able to double their lead when Marc Johnston performed a turnstile to flicker the red light.
