Iceland: Grindavík hit again by volcanic eruption
Iceland: Grindavík hit again by a volcanic eruption – (France 2)
A volcano has erupted near Grindavík, Iceland. The population was able to be evacuated a few hours earlier.
Meter after meter, the lava flows inexorably, approaching the homes of Grindavik (Iceland), Sunday January 14. A few minutes earlier, a road was cut due to the strong volcanic recovery. During the night, faced with the danger, the authorities evacuated a few dozen people out of the 4,000 inhabitants of the town. “I’m amazed that an eruption is now possible under the city, I can’t believe it.” a resident is alarmed.
Danger is everywhere
Danger is now everywhere. Nothing seems to stop the advance of two new magma faults. “I think the biggest crack is a meter long.”, indicates a reporter. The authorities appear powerless in the face of this phenomenon. No victims have been reported since the disappearance of a man in a crevasse on Wednesday. The city expects significant destruction.
