The only son of Monique Olivier and Michel Fourniret was called to testify, Wednesday, December 13, at his mother’s trial. Selim Olivier appeared dressed up in a videoconference. He explained that he never knew anything about the crimes committed by his parents until 2004, when they were arrested.
At the trial of Monique Olivier at the Nanterre Assize Court (Hauts-de-Seine), Wednesday December 13, her son Sélim Olivier was undoubtedly the most anticipated witness. When the son she had with Michel Fourniret appeared on the screen via videoconference from Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), the room was as if petrified. The man wore a wig and a beard, but his face was not masked. His resemblance to his father is striking.
“You are no longer my mother”
Sélim Olivier said he wanted to cooperate. Questioned by the president about having seen Estelle Mouzin sequestered at her parents’ house in 2003, while living with them, he replied, confidently: “I have no memory of having this young girl in my home.” Sélim Olivier said he never knew anything about the crimes committed by his parents until 2004, when they were arrested. He claimed to have learned everything from the press. Without apparent emotion, Monique Olivier stared at him during the trial. When he said to her: “You are no longer my mother”she replied: “You look like your father.” After two hours of hearing, the screen went dark, leaving the victims’ families without answers to their questions. The couple’s only son Olivier Fourniret returned to anonymity.
