Grenoble and Voiron join the movement

“Silence the hospital is dying” : it is with these words that the inter-hospital collective (CIH) calls for rallies, this Friday at 2.30 p.m., in front of the hospitals of Grenoble and Voiron. “Minutes of silence” in the wake of the movement launched last December by Strasbourg caregivers to denounce the lack of means, in particular human resources. Since then, the movement has spread, from Bordeaux to Marseille… and it is now arriving in Isère. “We shouted so much that we come out of breath, testifies Sophie Michallet, nurse at the Grenoble University Hospital and member of the CIH. We hope that the silence will make more noise. »

“Beyond Disaster”

“We are beyond the disaster”, the nurse is in despair who evokes “Care that is no longer provided for lack of personnel; and the Covid has nothing to do with it! (…) If the public hospital is in difficulty, it is society that is in difficulty ”. Caregivers have already been mobilizing for three years, she underlines, citing the example of Voiron where adult emergencies (excluding vital emergencies) are regularly closed at night for lack of staff.

“Non-union and apolitical” demonstration

“If this action is coordinated by the CIH, it is neutral, non-union, apolitical, without banners or banners, all and all united for our common good which is the public hospital” specify the organizers in a press release. They want to challenge the government and, beyond that, public opinion as the next presidential election looms. “So that the question of the public hospital is put back at the center of the debates” insists Sophie Michallet. This minute of silence will now be repeated every Friday.
