Gregory Fitoussi became known through the series Under the sun, broadcast on TF1 between 1996 and 2008. Since then, he has alternated between art-house films and international films. In September 2024, he will be on the bill for the series Cat’s Eyes, inspired by the successful manga, on TF1, and the period series, Fortune of Franceon France 2. “I’m trying more and more to move towards series that move away from police investigations, he said. I’m a little tired of seeing this.”
One of his favorite series is Peaky Blinders . “I think we have reached the quintessence of the series, explains Gregory Fitoussi. We are close to cinema, whether in the casting or in the lighting.” This British series is set in the interwar period, up until the rise of Nazism in Europe, and follows a gang of Birmingham bandits, led by an imperial gang leader, Thomas Shelby.
The latter, played by Cillian Murphy, is Grégory Fitoussi’s favorite character. “He is a phenomenal actor with such a precise and accurate way of playing, he says. I was lucky enough to play a small character in season six and what’s more, he’s very gentlemanly and open to discussion.”
He also has a preference for the character of Arthur, brother of Thomas Shelby and played by Paul Henderson. “I really like this character who is this bundle of nerves. He’s a bit like the muscles, while Thomas Shelby is the brain and the thinking. I think this duo works particularly well.”
Music also plays a major role, with a rhythmic rock soundtrack. “There is a gap with the era of images and sequences, but it brings a form of modernity, dynamism and originality. There is a rock’n’roll thing that is great,” concludes Gregory Fitoussi.
The six seasons of Peaky Blinders are available on Netflix.
