Fear, relief and then finally doubt. When Grégory Alldritt went out on a stretcher in the 50th minute last Saturday during the difficult victory against Scotland in the Six Nations Tournament, we initially feared the worst. Shortly after, the captain wanted to be reassuring. “It’s more fear than harmhe declared at a press conference after the match. A wound has opened, the muscle is not affected”. But it turns out that this wound is deep enough to exclude him from the group of 34 players selected to prepare for the match against Italy (Sunday February 25 in Lille), revealed Thursday February 15.
Day 2: Grégory Alldritt leaves with injury

The question, for Fabien Galthié and the XV of France, is now whether the Rochelais, excellent against Scotland, will be restored in time for the last two matches, against Wales and England, on 10 and 16 next March. This is to be hoped as Alldritt’s experience (47 caps) could be valuable in the quest for a final victory in the Tournament, even if Ireland seems well above the rest this year.
Ollivon captain, Taofifenua back
In his absence, combined with that of Anthony Jelonch, it is logically François Cros who should replace him as number 8 against the Squadra Azzurra. The young third row of Union Bordeaux-Bègles Marko Gazzotti, world champion with the under-20s this summer, was called as reinforcement in the group.
As for the armband, Antoine Dupont having skipped this edition to prepare for the 2024 Olympics with the French rugby sevens team, it goes to Charles Ollivon, the first captain of the Galthié era. Absent during the first two matches, second row Romain Taofifenua is back in the group.
