Green MP Cyrielle Chatelain accuses a Renaissance elected official of having threatened her

In a letter addressed to the President of the National Assembly, the boss of environmentalist deputies demands a sanction against the deputy Jean-René Cazeneuve, who denies having made these remarks.

“You will be shorn at the Liberation for having voted with the National Rally”. The president of the environmentalist deputies in the National Assembly, Cyrielle Chatelain, accuses the Renaissance deputy Jean-René Cazeneuve of having insulted and threatened her in the hemicycle. The altercation would have taken place during the current affairs session in the government, Tuesday December 12, a few hours after the rejection of the immigration bill, following the adoption of the motion tabled by the environmentalists. The person concerned denies having made such comments.

“He told me, twice and with determination, the following words: ‘You will be shorn at the Liberation for having voted with the National Rally’”, affirmed the elected environmentalist in a letter of protest addressed to the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet. The MP requests a “disciplinary penalty” against Jean-René Cazeneuve, after this “threatening insult”. “The message is clear: as a woman, I must stay in my place and hold my tongue”declares the MP.

“As a direct witness to this scene, I confirm it”declared Olivier Faure, who sits very close to the two deputies, on the social network “Point Godwin and sexism, that says a lot in a single sentence from the MP concerned”continues the boss of the PS.

Contacted by AFP on Wednesday morning, Jean-René Cazeneuve could not be directly reached, but, according to the newspaper Le Figarohe “strongly denies” these remarks which do not appear in the minutes of the session. “He blamed him for the collusion of the left with the RN, not in a personal capacity”reacted the deputy’s entourage to AFP.
