Green Bay Packers | Elgton Jenkins gets contract extension

(Montreal) Offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins has been granted a four-year, $68 million contract extension by the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers made the announcement on Friday.

Jenkins’ contract could even reach 74 million. The 2019 second-round pick’s current contract expires at the end of this season.

The 26-year-old footballer has established himself as one of the most versatile offensive linemen on the league. He started several games at every position except as right guard.

Jenkins primarily plays as a left guard, but also played eight games as a left tackle last season to replace injured David Bakhtiari.

Those were the only games he played last season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament which sidelined him for the rest of the season. The injury caused him to miss the first game of the season, but he’s been a starter for the next 12 since.

The Packers (6-8) will be looking for a third straight victory Sunday at Miami (8-6). The Packers likely win their last three games and get plenty of help to make the playoffs for a fourth straight year.
