The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) indicates that it intervened at the corner of Pierre-De Coubertin and La Salle avenues. , in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district, near the Olympic Stadium, in order to provide assistance to a stabbed individual.

On site, patrol officers found three young people aged 17, both injured in the upper body. Although it does not specify the exact nature of the weapon used by the attacker(s), the SPVM indicates that it is “possibly a sharp object”.

Two of them, a boy and a girl, were conscious when they were transported to hospital, specifies the SPVM, which adds that they are still awaiting an assessment of their state of health. As for the third, he did not require transport to hospital.

A conflict between two groups which started in a nearby alley is believed to be the cause of the tragedy. A 19-year-old man was arrested a few hundred meters from the scene and will be met in the coming hours by investigators to determine his involvement in the events.

The SPVM does not exclude that other suspects took part in the armed attack.

A security perimeter was erected on site to allow identity technicians and a dog handler to reconstruct the scene.
