NASA is going to launch a rocket, Artemis, Monday, August 29. Eventually, the goal is to set foot on the Moon, then one day travel to Mars.
Is it a new phase of space exploration that opens with the takeoff of the rocket Artemis, scheduled for Monday, August 29? The Americans have taken elements of the space shuttle to build a brand new rocket. It’s the most powerful ever built. This launcher is intended to send Americans, Europeans, Canadians and Japanese back to the Moon and Mars. But the Moon is a thousand times further away than the International Space Station.
We are really on a new challenge, on a new page. The speed of the rocket must be phenomenal. However, there will be no one on board this time. Ultimately, astronauts must travel in the launcher. In France, Thomas Pesquet is one of the candidates. The Europeans provide equipment for this mission, explains the journalist from France Télévisions, Nicolas Chateauneuf.
