Among the favourites at the start of the mountain bike race, Loana Lecomte fell on a descent in the 4th lap and said goodbye to the podium at the Olympic Games on Sunday.
Neck and neck to play for the podium, the French Loana Lecomte fell on a descent of the Élancourt hill, during the 4th lap (out of seven), Sunday July 28 for the mountain bike event. She had started the race alongside Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt in the first lap, but was then distanced by her compatriot. Less physically comfortable, Loana Lecomte saw the Dutch Puck Pieterse take time from her. The 24-year-old Frenchwoman, visibly in physical difficulty, then took risks on the descent to stay in contact.
At the time of her fall, she was with a group of several runners and was aiming for the bronze medal. Unfortunately, Loana Lecomte was unable to resume the race.
