(Hamilton) Punk rock band Green Day will headline the halftime show at the upcoming Gray Cup final in Hamilton, Ontario.
The final game of the Canadian Football League (CFL) will take place on November 19.
The CFL made the announcement Saturday evening during halftime of the game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Calgary Stampeders.
“You better get ready because we’re about to take the Gray Cup to green and make it the loudest night in CFL history,” the group said in a statement.
Green Day has sold more than 75 million albums and won five Grammy awards. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, its first year of eligibility.
The band Green Day was formed in California in 1987 by singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong with bassist-backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. The group is credited with popularizing interest in punk rock in the United States.
