A new donation drive will take place in Saint-Lambert, in Montérégie, to compensate for the fifty boxes of food intended for families in need stolen from the Grande Guignolée media warehouse on the South Shore last week.
This new collection will take place on January 3 in Saint-Lambert, between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Several drop-off points are planned, namely:
- corner of Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Boulevard and Victoria Avenue (near McDonald’s);
- corner of Victoria Avenue and Green Street (downtown Saint-Lambert);
- corner of Notre-Dame Avenue and Riverside Street (near Durocher College);
- corner of Boulevard Simard and Rue du Pas-de-Calais.
Online donations are also possible.
Remember that traces of the theft were discovered last Thursday by those responsible for collection. Around twenty organizations in the Longueuil agglomeration benefit each year from donations collected by the South Shore Media Grande Guignolée.
The fifty stolen boxes contained a kit of products – non-perishable foods, pharmaceutical products, diapers, new clothes – intended for families in need. The collection had made it possible to prepare more than 400 of these boxes, he told The Press the manager, Jean-Marie Girard.
Disturbed by this theft, citizens of Saint-Lambert decided to mobilize to collect new donations.
“When I heard the news, I was shocked and sad at the same time,” said Herman Champagne, citizen behind this initiative, in a press release on December 31.
“Generosity and community involvement are fundamental values deeply anchored in Saint-Lambert. I am convinced that our contribution will make a real difference. »
People who wish to donate food are asked to call 514 993-2657 to ensure the presence of a volunteer at the warehouse located at 845, avenue Saint-Charles, in Saint-Lambert.
