Awards and nominations are piling up for Alain Farah. After receiving the Ringuet prize from the Académie des lettres du Québec last week, his abundant A thousand secrets, a thousand dangers is one of the five finalists for the Grand Prix du livre de Montréal.

He finds himself in good company alongside the essay Seven proses on poetry by Daniel Canty, novels morel by Maxime Raymond Bock and When We Lost Our Head by Heather O’Neill (translated by Dominique Fortier, Losing the mindhas just been published by Alto), as well as the collection of poetry The Good Arabsby Eli Tareq El Bechelany-Lynch.

The winning work, whose prize comes with a cash prize of $15,000, will be unveiled on November 3.

A thousand secrets, a thousand dangers was a finalist for the Prix des libraires du Québec as well as for the Prix littéraire des collègegiens. He is in the running for one of the Governor General’s Literary Awards, the winners of which will be announced on November 16.
