From the first round, Canadians Marko Stakusic and Juan Carlos Aguilar saw their tournament end in singles.

Stakusic, competing in his first Challenger Tour main draw, gave the tournament’s sixth-seeded Juncheng Shang of China a hard time, but lost in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

A little later, Aguilar lost 6-2, 6-3 to Colombian Nicolas Mejia (10e). Four other Canadians are scheduled to play a first-round match.

In the only other singles match to finish, Britain’s Henry Patten defeated American Kyle Seelig 6-4, 6-3.

On the women’s side, in the second round, only the Spaniard Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (no 5) was able to complete her duel. She showed Britain’s Harriet Dart the way out in two sets of 6-2, 6-4.

The 31-year-old Parrizas-Diaz will have to wait until Wednesday to find out the identity of her next rival, as the match between favorite Daria Kasatkina and Poland’s Magdalena Frech has been postponed. Kasatkina led 6-4, 5-0.

In doubles, Ukraine’s Nadiia Kichenok and Slovakia’s Tereza Mihalikova (no. 4) reached the next round beating Canadians Cadence Brace and Marina Stakusic 6-2, 7-6 (1).
