Around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Granby police officers arrested 15 people in connection with a break and enter at Mr. Bonnardel’s constituency office, located on Principale Street.
According to Mr. Bonnardel, it was members of the Union of Public and Parapublic Service of Quebec (SFPQ) who entered his office. The MP who is also Minister of Transport and responsible for the Estrie region deplored these behaviors on his Twitter page.
“I strongly condemn this deplorable and unjustified gesture and we will file a complaint with the police. This kind of behavior has no place with us or anywhere else and I ask the SFPQ to bring its members to order,” he wrote on the social network.
Mr. Bonnardel says the people frightened and intimidated two employees, in addition to stealing things and committing acts of vandalism. The Granby police did not confirm this information and did not disclose the reasons that would have motivated these individuals to break into the MP’s office.
The 15 people were released on a promise to appear. The investigation by the Granby Police Department is still ongoing.
