Grammy Award | Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Allison Russell in the running





Two works directed by maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin were selected by the Grammy Academy, whose nominations were unveiled on Tuesday. Singer Allison Russell, born in Montreal but now based in Nashville, has been selected three times for her album. Outside Child and his song Nightflyer.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin has been selected for Florence Price, Symphonies no. 1 in C minor & no. 3 E minor, recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra, of which he is musical director, in the Best Orchestral Performance category. It is also nominated in the Best Opera Recordings category for Dialogues of the Carmelites by Francis Poulenc, first presented in April 2019 at the Metropolitan Opera, of which he is also the musical director.

Outside Child, Allison Russell, was selected in the Best Americana Album category, while her song Nightflyer was considered in the Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance categories.


Yannick Nézet-Séguin has been nominated three times in the past for two albums devoted to operas by Mozart and another to Rachmaninoff. He has never won a trophy to date. The Grammy awards ceremony will take place on January 31, 2022.
