Ukrainian grain exports are crucial for the global food supply, and especially for African countries.

A difficult handshake for the three men, but a symbolic gesture for the food supply of many countries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres met in Lviv (Ukraine) on Thursday 18 August. They want to step up Ukrainian grain exports to help the most dependent countries.

Ukrainian cereals represent a planetary stake, of survival even for many countries. For example, Somalia is 68% dependent on Ukrainian wheat. It is 51% for Lebanon and 44% for Tunisia. These countries were delighted with the resumption of exports of these cereals thanks to an agreement signed in Istanbul (Turkey) between Russians and Ukrainians. 25 ships loaded with grain have already left the gates of Ukraine.
