Graduate Student Support | The duty

The duty of May 13 (“Researchers and students rich in knowledge, poor in income”) highlights with relevance the underfunding of graduate students. However, increased scholarships are not the only solution. Researchers, professors and supervisors also have a responsibility to partially supplement student support. During the years 2003-2013, I had the privilege of supervising four or five graduate students each year. For me, it was necessary to supplement their support with at least $25,000 per year for the master’s and $35,000 for the doctorate, in addition to offering them the chance to participate in conferences.
