Governor General’s Medals | The architects of La Shed rewarded

La Shed distinguished herself at the Governor General’s Awards on Tuesday in Ottawa.

The Montreal architecture firm was rewarded for the Les Rochers project, consisting of two houses in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine. The complex located in Havre-Aubert, the southernmost island of the archipelago, has a main residence and a guest house. Their cedar shingle facades are a reinterpretation of the traditional Madelinan house.

Note that another Quebec firm received honors at the same ceremony: Provencher Roy – with GLCRM Architectes – also received an award for the reception pavilion of the National Assembly of Quebec. These awards are an initiative of the RAIC (Royal Architectural Institute of Canada), in collaboration with the Canada Council for the Arts.
