“I will therefore continue my self-isolation and rest in the days to come,” she said on her Twitter feed in the afternoon.

This announcement comes a day after her husband Whit Grant Fraser himself tested positive for COVID-19.

“As Whit and I have seen, this pandemic is not over yet, but the progress being made is significant. We are both grateful to all the people who play an important role in the fight against this virus,” said the Governor General in her statement.

On January 31, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tested positive for the coronavirus shortly after two of his children caught it.

Mr. Trudeau did not have to isolate himself for long and was even able to hold a virtual press briefing while still carrying COVID-19.

He reiterated his call for the importance of getting vaccinated.
