Government spokesperson Prisca Thevenot and her team were the victims of an attack during an operation to put up election posters on Wednesday July 3.

On Wednesday, July 3, Prisca Thevenot, the government spokesperson and candidate for re-election in the legislative elections, was putting up posters with her team in a working-class neighborhood of Meudon (Hauts-de-Seine). According to her account, the minister reprimanded about fifteen young people who were defacing posters. She and her team were then allegedly attacked. They were allegedly punched and kicked several times.

Avedik Batikian, a municipal councilor, filmed the attackers’ escape from his balcony. Prisca Thevenot was not injured, but her deputy was injured in the arm and leg. A Macronist activist had a fractured jaw. Four people, including three minors, were taken into custody at the Meudon police station. The Nanterre prosecutor’s office (Hauts-de-Seine) has opened an investigation into violence committed in a group against a public elected official.
