The founder of La France insoumise accused Benjamin Haddad of “being won over to the politics” of Benyamin Netanyahu.

She sees there “nauseating innuendo”. The government spokesperson, Maud Bregeon, denounced on Sunday September 29 comments made the day before by Jean-Luc Mélenchon about the Minister Delegate for European Affairs, Benjamin Haddad.
Speaking on the situation in Lebanon during a meeting in Lozère, the leader of La France insoumise estimated that France would not request any sanctions against Israel at the European level because “the minister who has been appointed to take care of Europe is someone who is committed to politics” of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Designating, without mentioning him by name, the new Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad.
On X, the spokesperson implied that Jean-Luc Mélenchon, regularly accused of ambiguity on the question of anti-Semitism, had expressed these criticisms because Benjamin Haddad is Jewish.
Still on X, Sunday, Insoumis defended himself from this accusation, denouncing a “media scam”and attaching to his message a screenshot of a quote from Benjamin Haddad during an appearance on France 2 : “I am not for a ceasefire, Israel has the right to defend itself against terrorism. It is a legitimate response.”
A statement made on November 2, 2023 regarding, not Lebanon, but the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip. “This war must be waged (…) with respect for international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians”added Benjamin Haddad, then deputy for Paris, calling for occasional humanitarian truces.
