There “great national cause” of the five-year term did not benefit from a “global strategy” decides the Court of Auditors. Its president, Pierre Moscovici, commented, Thursday September 14, on the report drawn up by the institution on the policy pursued by the government in matters of gender equality. Despite a “undeniable mobilization”the executive only managed to “limited progress”mainly due to “method errors” scathes the Court of Auditors.

The Wise Men of the Court of Auditors point out a “diversity” strategic plans that have not been consolidated by “a unique roadmap”which prevented, according to Pierre Moscovici, that “this fundamental theme” irrigates “all public policies”. The Court also identified measures launched “without precise diagnosis of situations and needs” and sometimes without means, timetable, objectives or targets, making “their evaluation impossible”. These recommendations come at a time when a new interministerial plan for equality between women and men must be presented in order to guide government policy in this area until 2027.

The Court of Auditors, however, welcomed progress in the protection of victims of domestic violence, in particular thanks to listening and support devices as well as the distribution of “serious danger telephones”. Likewise, the monitoring of perpetrators of violence, via anti-reconciliation bracelets, is mentioned in the report. But “education is really the blind spot of this policy” declared Pierre Moscovici.
