The 12e edition of La Grande Dégustation de Montréal is back from October 20 to 22 at a new address! It will indeed be at the Grand Quai du Vieux-Port that visitors will be able to meet 280 exhibitors representing 25 countries, 80 wine regions and discover more than 1,600 products. Several terroirs and know-how will be honoured, namely Abruzzo (Italy), Alsace (France), Portugal, the States of Washington and California (United States). But producers from all over the world will present red, white, rosé and orange wines, as well as a wide selection of champagnes and sparkling wines. A space will also be reserved for spirits, and mixologists will be present to make cocktails. Animated conferences and tastings will also be on the program for the most curious. Good visit !

Operation discoveries

Almost on the same dates as La Grande Dégustation, the Private Import Wine Fair is the meeting place par excellence for amateurs who want to unearth original products usually offered to professionals. This year, for its 15e edition, the show will take place from October 15 to 17 at the Marché Bonsecours in Montreal, as well as on October 18 at the Voltigeurs de Québec armoury. On site, winegrowers, brewers and artisan distillers will offer some 1,200 products for tasting, 600 of which can be purchased individually. Visitors will also be able to discover the best-rated white wines under $35 by professionals during the last Judgment of Montreal.

An original spirit

Vodka flavored with grapes already existed… But nothing to do with the Pur Vodka Autographe of the year 2022, made with Pur vodka and pinot noir grapes from the multi-award-winning Queylus estate in Ontario. After Michel Jodoin’s Geneva apple, urban honey from the rooftops of Château Frontenac and wild blueberries from Lac-Saint-Jean and Yuzu from Quebec, Nicolas Duvernois and his team surprise us again this year with a fourth 100% Canadian signature cuvée from 4000 bottles only. Find out before there are none left!

drinking books

Several books on wine and alcohol by Quebecers are coming out this fall. Let us first highlight the 16e and very last wine guide (Éditions de l’Homme) by Nadia Fournier, who took over from food critic Michel Phaneuf, whose first eponymous guide was launched in 1981. This latest vintage features hundreds of wines from everywhere, including Quebec. On an even more traveling note, we should mention the publication of Wine routes in North America. 50 dream routes (Ulysse editions) by sommelier and globetrotter Natalie Richard. In the form of a beautiful, richly illustrated book, the author invites us to follow her on the roads of Canada, the United States and Mexico, to meet classic or daring wine estates.
