Honors at the Manor

It is in Baie-Comeau that you can taste the coffee of the first Quebec micro-roaster to join the B Corp movement. This international certification confirms that a company meets the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability. Le Manoir du Café, in operation for more than 30 years, hopes to stand out by taking concrete actions while giving back to its community, encouraging circular economy projects and ensuring transparent and rigorous management. A visit to this conscientious roaster is essential on the road to vacation, if not a detour to the online store. More than twenty coffees are offered, including Expedition 138, a new blend with North Coast connotations perfect for road trips events, created in collaboration with Tourisme Côte-Nord.

It’s brewing at the Maizerets estate

For his 7e edition, the Quebec Brewers and Artisans Festival invites us to taste the original brews and specialties of 25 brewers from across Quebec. Among other participants who will be gathered at the Maizerets estate: Brewers on demand, the La Station microbrewery, SNO Microbrasserie Nordik, the Inox brewery or the Pit Caribou microbrewery. Throughout the weekend, festival-goers will be able to stroll, glass in hand, between tasting areas, food kiosks and a market that will bring together around thirty artisans from the region. Children are welcome in the family area. On stage, Zébulon, Velours Velours and April Hate (a tribute to Nirvana), to name but a few, will close the day. From August 11 to 13.

Tasting by proxy

Rainy vacation day? We strongly suggest here a wine pairing and… pop corn. Because the movie The tasting, by Ivan Calbérac, based on the play of the same name, is currently playing in Quebec. The French feature film stars Isabelle Carré and Bernard Campan, both César winners. “My parish priest’s wine at communion time was marvellous! » replies Hortense when Jacques, an unpleasant wine merchant on the verge of bankruptcy, asks her if there is a wine she has liked recently, trying to advise her. A feature film about wine, addiction too, love and life. Get drunk, get drunk on wine, poetry or virtue, as a certain Charles Baudelaire said.
