New starred restaurant in Montreal
Our gastronomic scene seduced the couple formed by Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee, the duo behind the Sushi by Scratch concept, Michelin-starred since 2021 in Montecito and established in five other American cities… plus a Canadian since this week! A new Sushi by Scratch is opening in Old Montreal, with the approach that has made it so successful: in a very intimate dining room (only 10 seats!), a progressive tasting menu of 17 nigiri freely interpreted from fish and local or imported seafood from Tokyo. All accompanied by handpicked Japanese drinks (beer, cocktail, sake, whisky). Enough to give a mom a one-of-a-kind gourmet experience, isn’t it?
Noted arrival in Quebec
Inviting the mothers of your life to the prestigious Champlain restaurant at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, named Best Gastronomic Establishment in North and Central America by the World Luxury Awards in 2022, is always a nice touch. But this visit will become a real event with the arrival of Gabriel Molleur-Langevin at the head of this restaurant. After more than 15 years spent at exceptional addresses such as Les Maisons Marcon in France, Noma in Denmark, Fäviken in Sweden and Mousso in Montreal, this chef wants to infuse Le Champlain with his seasonal, locavore, traveling and technical vision. gastronomy.
Like in Bologna
Pasta is one of the most popular dishes in Quebec, and for good reason! We can decline them in so many ways that we can eat them every day without getting bored. The Pasta Fest will therefore celebrate them for a 4e times from May 11 to 24, this time with a spotlight on a specialty from the Emilia-Romagna region, Bolognese ragù. About twenty restaurants in Montreal and Quebec will interpret this dish made up of long pasta, pieces of meat, sautéed vegetables and tomatoes, then their creations will be evaluated by Katie Parla, a renowned journalist and culinary guide based in Rome who will come to the occasion. There is no doubt that an invitation to eat a delicious Bolognese ragù should please many mothers!
