Swing the bacaisse on the farm
In Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, not far from Quebec City, Cité agricole is not lacking in dynamism, summer and winter alike. Specializing in market gardening and raising small lots of free-range animals, it also has an elegant dining room (pool table included) where an associate chef has fun creating interesting menus. That of sugars, offered until April 23, is quite tempting, with classics such as split pea soup and whiskey-braised ham, as well as finds such as chicharrons with BBQ spices and a tree of meringues to maple, all served with Quebec alcohols. The feast of the senses and the rigodon are also moving outside, with an outdoor bar and maple poutines for those who want to enjoy the great outdoors. A nice outing in perspective.
La Cabane du Pied de Coq to take away
It is famous beyond our borders and attracts crowds. Oh yes, the foodies every year places are snapped up for the Cabane à sucre Au Pied de Cochon. Didn’t manage to get it? That’s okay, because now you can enjoy this decadent experience right at home! The generous take-out formula, which can be ordered online, includes a foie gras cake (chef Martin Picard’s specialty par excellence), pistachios and maple butter, ham with apple sauce, a gravlax of salmon, a puffed spinach omelet, and a pecan and maple pie. The Pied de Cochon virtual shop is full of other food and drink options that are hard to resist.

Coureur des bois, take 3
Marketed since 2012, Canadian whiskey liqueur blended with Coureur des bois maple syrup has won many awards and fans. It also paved the way for an alcoholic maple cream which was also very successful. It is therefore impossible to ignore the unveiling of the brand new Coureur des bois Excellence 12 year old whiskey. The recipe remains much the same as before, except that this time it contains a blend of aged 12-year-old Canadian whiskeys and a hint of maple syrup. With a slightly higher alcohol content than the original Coureur des bois (40% instead of 31.7%), this new spirit can be enjoyed neat, on ice or in a cocktail. Good tasting !
