Ciders in the spotlight at the Jean-Talon market

On Saturday and Sunday, the Jean-Talon market will host the third edition of the Foire des vins et cidres d’ici. Visitors will be able to learn more about the province’s wine and cider world by discovering different local producers. On the program, some twenty vineyards and cider houses from Quebec will offer tastings. Among the exhibitors present, we will notably find the Cidrerie d’un hectare, Cidre sauvageon, Capsuletemporel, Jus sec, the Domaine Amalgames and the Têtes au vent vineyard. All this will be combined with a culinary offer signed Cuisine libre! by chef Clément Boivin, who will suggest small appetizers to pair with the alcoholic selection. Sommelier Kristine Mansuy will also present educational workshops (registration required and fee). The event will return the following weekend, this time at the Maisonneuve market. Admission to the site is free. The glass is sold at the price of $3.50 and the tastings vary between $1 and $5. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A fusion brunch in Angus

A gourmet brunch combining French and Vietnamese cuisine is offered in the Angus district.

Two renowned establishments, the Vietnamese restaurant-bar Red Tiger and the lunch-dinner institution Le passé composé are teaming up to offer a new brunch fusion between French and Vietnamese gastronomy. The menu is led by the executive chef of Passé composé, Arnaud Glay, in the premises of Red Tiger Angus, the second location of the restaurant located on the street in the Technopôle Angus. It offers dishes that combine the best of the flavors of both countries. Thus, the menu includes the traditional banh mi, the xoi manFrench toast and poached egg. Brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 10:30 a.m.

A new café in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve

Opened on July 30 in Montreal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district, Spedzira caffè is adding to the already delicious offerings on Ontario Street East. Located in the former Armand glassworks, the newcomer offers several homemade sandwiches, coffees and fresh juices. On social media, the new establishment boasts about its “incredible” lemonade, even though it is located in Montreal, and not on the Amalfi Coast. 3434 Ontario Street East
