This week, we notice that several banners stand out with great offers and some rarities to grab.

Is spring coming? I am delighted with several great offers on vegetables in recent weeks. With a few exceptions, they are mainly linked to imports. But take courage, the abundant Quebec harvests will eventually reach the shelves, it’s a matter of weeks.
Some specials analyzed
Speaking of spring, the famous T-bone (barbecuit steak) perhaps represents the opportunity to start the barbecue and enjoy it. I see that it is at the best price since December. At Maxi: $7.88/lb.
As for eggs, we haven’t seen them cheaper in recent months, and they remain quite rare. At SuperC at $2.38 per dozen, followed closely at $2.49 at IGA. Recently, the good discounts are between $2.49 and $2.99.
Let’s talk strawberries: they’ve been the talk of the town for two weeks, but what’s out of the ordinary this week are the three great offers from Metro ($1.77 per container), Maxi (just 1 cent more ), and Provigo (at $1.78). Here are three options at very low prices this week, it’s super interesting!
Easter is coming
In poultry, we have noted several good offers for turkey since the start of the year. I’m holding the Flamingo frozen turkey at IGA at $1.79/lb, followed by Exceldor at $1.88/lb at Maxi. Something to celebrate Easter at a low price.
The best deal of the week on chicken is $1.29/lb for thighs at IGA.
For extra-lean ground pork, we have an exceptional price at $2.49/lb at Metro. We saw $2.33/lb in February, but that was for medium-lean. Normally, the leaner the ground meat, the higher the price.
I would also like to draw your attention to the Pâté Belle Bretagne (150G) which sells for $1.94 at Maxi. Enough to forget the snowflakes of the last few days!
In closing, I noticed another nice surprise this week, in private brands. It’s been a while since we’ve seen peanut butter under $4.27. If you are loyal to Kraft, the floor price for this format has been $5.77 for almost a year, almost twice as expensive. Maybe it’s worth giving it a chance and seeing if you like it?
Food inflation has pushed many Quebecers to turn to discounts in flyers. With the end of the traditional Publisac, delivered door to door, consumers have found other sources of information on the best prices. Already, every Wednesday, LCN presents the section “ The fight of the flyers » with some weekly discounts in grocery stores. Thanks to algorithmic technology from the firm Glouton.app, the Journal now offers every Thursday a list of at least 200 interesting discounts offered by major grocery chains.
