We do not skimp on the mattress, pillows and sheets, favoring feathers over synthetic, unless you are allergic, and natural fibers with a high number of threads per square inch. The weight of the duvet contributes to the comforting effect. Easy access to light switches, located on either side of the bed, and outlets for recharging devices is the kind of attention that adds to the comfort. The magic is in the lighting

At Le Germain, the bed is unadorned and immaculate, reflecting impeccable cleanliness. Around the bed, different sources of light, electrical outlets and switches are located within easy reach.
Lighting is crucial from a functional point of view, but also, and perhaps even above all, for the ambience it has the power to create. Designers treat it as a material in itself. “Lighting is a complex beast and it has become more so with the advent of LED, which consumes less energy, which makes it more wonderful from the point of view of possibilities,” says designer Louise Dupont, of the firm Lemay Michaud. Designers use it for indirect lighting, camouflaged behind a piece of furniture, a headboard or in an alcove. “This is what gives a magical and cozy side to the decor,” she adds. To me, it takes those two components: functional lighting – which includes reading and work lights or a backlit anti-fog bathroom mirror – and mood lighting. And this is often what is missing in homes. »Also essential: dimmers which allow you to calibrate according to situations and tastes.

At home, you can isolate yourself with a falling threshold to cut yourself off from the noise of the rest of the house, ”advises Louise Dupont.

The basics usually stay relatively neutral in hotel decor, according to Camdi designer and manager Pierre Brousseau, making it easy to change the decor. We will play mainly with accessories, art and accents to inject character and establish the narrative.
“A hotel decor has its story to tell. At home, the decor tells the story of its residents. Perhaps you should dare to put your personality more into it, ”says Andrès Escobar.
